For the third summer in a row, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will be hitting the big outside stage at the Salvage Station in Asheville, NC and it is sure to be another jam-packed, high-energy evening of Shorty et al's own brand of New Orleans funk. Or, is it R&B? Or, jazz? Or, rock? Or, all of the above?
I believe it's the latter, but in any form, the house will be-a-rockin' life few other bands can rock the place.
This year's show will be a bit different as Shorty is sharing the bill with only one other artist, Big Freedia. Last year's "mini fest" headlined by TS&OA also featured Robert Randolph, Mavis Staples, and Ziggy Marley which was quite a spectacle, but also resulted in rather short sets for each artist. So, we're hoping this year to get an even bigger dose of funk by Troy (Andrews) and his band.
Below are a few photos from both the 2022 and 2023 Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue shows at the Salvage Station.
