This past Saturday I continued my work with the Beech Mountain Resort, covering the latest sold-out show in their Winter Concert Series, this one featuring The Hip Abduction.
It's been a while since I've photographed THA, so I was looking forward to the show. And, the band didn't disappoint, nor did my long-time Lighting Director friend, Bee Kay on the lighting board.
The Tap Room at Beech Mountain can be a very challenging room to shoot a gig, as there is no photo pit, and side-stage access is limited to stage-right (where the band comes onto the stage). It certainly helps that I have shot at the venue a few times before, so I know what to expect (which wasn't the case last winter when I covered the 49 Winchester show -- my first time shooting at the Beech Mountain indoor venue -- and I had to really push myself to improvise in a new setting).
Below you'll find a few shots from soundcheck (prior to doors opening), along with a selection of photo highlights from the show. Most of the images were captured from the "front of house" (FOH), standing behind the sound and lighting boards, with a couple taken from the floor at the front corner of stage-right.
